Pre-Health Advisory Program at the Schaefer School of Engineering and Science

The Pre-Health Advisory Program at Stevens Institute of Technology offers a community of advisors and services to students in any major at Stevens who are interested in pursuing a career in the health professions after graduation.

In this program, academic advisors and the Health Professions Advisory Committee will work with you as you plan for a health career or health-related graduate programs, especially within the following areas:

  • Medical School (Medical Doctor and Doctor of Osteopathy)

  • Dental School

  • Physical Therapy School

  • Veterinary School

  • Optometry School

  • Physician’s Assistant (P.A.) School

  • Chiropractic School

The Health Professions Advisory Committee is a community of Stevens faculty and staff with expertise in the health professions and a highly motivated commitment to mentoring, counseling, and guiding qualified Pre-Health Advisory Program students from all sectors of the university.

Beginning in your first year of undergraduate studies, members of the committee will support you with academic and professional guidance all the way through to application and acceptance into your desired health professions school.


How do I Join the Pre-Health Advisory Program?

The Pre-Health Advisory Program is for both new and current students at Stevens Institute of Technology. If you are a prospective student, you'll apply to your regular program of study and contact the committee once you've enrolled. Enrolled students should contact the committee now (StevensHPAC@stevens.edu) to let them know they are interested in the health professions.

Stevens NJ Beta Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta

Stevens NJ Beta Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED) is the National Health Pre-Professional Honor Society dedicated to recognizing and encouraging those committed to healthcare. The organization strives to organize events each semester focused on philanthropy, scholarship, and social issues to promote the awareness of healthcare on campus and within the Hoboken community. A nomination process for membership in AED occurs normally in the sophomore year after completing Organic Chemistry.

Stevens Health Professions Club

The Stevens Health Professions Club (SHPC) is dedicated to providing educational and volunteer opportunities for students aspiring to a career in healthcare. Through programs offered on and off campus, students interested in an array of areas of healthcare will benefit from guest speakers representing various careers, introductions to and advice from members of professional school admissions committees, and access to volunteer opportunities at hospitals. You are encouraged to join this club in your first year if you are interested in the health professions.

Stevens' Accelerated Chemical Biology Program is a pre-medicine program with New Jersey Medical School where you receive a three-year Bachelor of Science in Chemical Biology from Stevens and a four-year MD from New Jersey Medical School. You'll apply for this program in November as a high school senior.
