Stevens’ General Education program equips students with a strong foundation in critical thinking and quantitative reasoning, grounded in mathematical, scientific and technological literacy. It also fosters effective communication, ethical leadership, an entrepreneurial mindset and cultural competence, preparing students to thrive as globally engaged citizens.
At the heart of the General Education program is SUCCESS, Stevens’ core curriculum, which cultivates educational resilience, technological savvy and entrepreneurial thinking. SUCCESS prepares students to thrive in the digital economy by equipping them with the skills, knowledge and tools essential for innovation and adaptability. SUCCESS comprises:
The First-Year Experience course, introducing students to Stevens and its resources, life and study skills for success, principles of modern-day leadership and ethical values
Frontiers of Technology courses, exposing students to the most important current and emerging technologies
Foundations courses, focusing on skills that prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of the modern world. These include the Foundations of Writing and Critical Inquiry program, which helps students become reflective, critical, expressive, articulate and intellectually confident; ; as well as courses on computing and entrepreneurship.
In addition to SUCCESS, students are required to take at least one science or technological course, one mathematics course and three humanities and social sciences courses.
