The biology bachelor’s program develops in-demand knowledge and skills to put you on track for career success, whether it's graduate, medical, dental, veterinary, physician’s assistant, or physical therapy programs.

Employers in the STEM field are looking for innovators and critically-thinking problem solvers. The biology bachelor’s program encourages students to develop these skills both academically and pragmatically in the classrooms and in the laboratories.

The program delves broadly and deeply into the science of living systems while maintaining the solid foundation in chemical and physical sciences necessary for innovative research and development in the health sciences. Coursework in microbiology, molecular genetics, physiology, and immunology will prepare students for the opportunity to do original research with Stevens faculty in modern cancer research, drug discovery, medicinal chemistry, and antimicrobial research.

Our department is led by faculty with valuable industry experience. Our programs’ three distinguishing features – a research-focused core curriculum, technology emphasis, and contemporary societal context – provide the skills necessary to successfully complete research projects as well as define your career path. Through the accelerated master’s program, you can earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree in just five years.

  • Senior Research Capstone: a team or individual capstone project working on real research projects solving real world problems, potentially in collaboration with a real company

  • State-of-the-Art Research Labs and Facilities: build, tinker and test your designs in Stevens' MakerCenter, Prototype and Object Fabrication Lab, or numerous other research facilities

  • Undergraduate Research Opportunities: our research-oriented curriculum gives you in-the-lab experience while you're still an undergraduate student. Each department at the School of Engineering and Science offers students opportunities for research over the summer with a faculty member of your choice, and Stevens' interdisciplinary Undergraduate Research Program that enables you to get valuable lab experience with researchers across departments and schools within Stevens.

  • Optional pre-health advisory program for students pursuing careers in healthcare
