In addition to our emphasis on problem-solving skills and theoretical foundations, we instill our students with hands-on programming experience and necessary business skills. The department boasts numerous globally recognized tenured and tenure-track faculty who participate in interdisciplinary research and development. Our faculty researchers focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning, computer vision, big data analytics, programming languages, computer security and cryptography, and software systems, providing our students with a wide variety of areas in which to research and learn. Many of our researchers have received prestigious awards (including the NSF CAREER Award) and control several million dollars in active research funding.
