Promoting Diversity in Law Enforcement Recruitment and Hiring Guidelines
Pursuant to the December 2021 Attorney General Guideline “Promoting Diversity in Law Enforcement Recruiting and Hiring”, the Stevens Institute of Technology Police Department is committed to doing all that we can to hiring staff who reflect the student community we serve. Per Stevens’ Workday student information system, as of Spring 2024, Stevens’ student population is 28% White, 10% Hispanic, 2% Black, 11% Asian, 15% Other/Unknown. As of June 2024, the Stevens Police Department had a total of 20 police officers: 55% were white, 30% were Hispanic, 5% were black and 5% were Indian, and 5% were Chinese. Additionally, 95% of the officers are male and 5% are female. Stevens Institute of Technology will continue to seek diverse applicants to join our department.
