Pi Tau Sigma

Welcome to the Phi Omicron Chapter of Pi Tau Sigma

The National Mechanical Engineering Honor Society

Pi Tau Sigma was founded in order to establish a closer bond of fellowship which will result in mutual benefit to those men and women in the study and in the profession of Mechanical Engineering, who by their academic or practical achievements, manifest a real interest and marked ability in their chosen work.

The Stevens Phi Omicron Chapter was founded on October 17, 1986 as the 136th student chapter.

The chapter has established a policy to initiate only juniors (5th and 6th semesters) and seniors (in their 7th semester). To be considered eligible for membership the students scholastic ranking during the Junior/Senior year must be in the top sixth (or 16.7%) of the class with a GPA of at least 3.8 or better. There are initiation ceremonies during the Fall and Spring terms.

The Stevens Phi Omicron chapter co-organizes with the ASME student chapter several events each year. These include seminars, workshops, and social events (such as faculty/student bowling, etc.). The chapter also organizes educational, social, and outreach activities and assists the Mechanical Engineering Department by providing annual tutoring services. The faculty advisor submits an annual report each year that is compiled and published by the national society. One or more of the officers of the Stevens Pi Tau Sigma chapter also attend the national chapter conference each year.
