Spring 2025 Letters to the Editor

A Big Thank-You to Kevin Castner ’24 M.Eng. ’25

Kevin Castner Jr. ’24 and The AnchorPhoto: Jeff VockAs a resident of the S.S. Stevens from 1968 to 1971, I was overjoyed to read Kristin Hanson’s article, “The Anchor Returns” (Fall ’24 issue). In July 2023, during my first visit to the campus in many years, I noticed the missing anchor and immediately went up to the Alumni Office to ask about it. I had no idea that just a few months later, a student would begin the process of getting the anchor restored to its rightful spot. I find it amazing that Kevin Castner ’24 M.Eng. ’25, who was not even born when the ship left Stevens almost 50 years ago, had the initiative to start a campaign for the anchor’s return and the perseverance to deal with the administration and the student government until it happened. His enthusiasm for preserving a beloved piece of Stevens history is to be commended.

Regarding the Fall ’24 Stevens Indicator — the total publication is truly outstanding. Stevens President Nariman Farvardin’s opening column, with the headline “Empowering All Minds,” is incredible. Keep doing great things.
