Engineering and Science Academic Advising

The School of Engineering and Science supports student-centric academic success through broad-based educational programming, advising, study planning and enabling student access to academic resources.

Academic advisors in the Schaefer School are committed to the holistic success of each student; promoting academic, professional, and personal success.

Our goal is to ensure that students have all the resources they need to succeed during their time at Stevens and beyond. Our advisors accomplish this via a personalized academic advising model and a robust series of events and programs that will expose you to cutting-edge research, industry partners and alumni networks.

Advising Model

All students have an advisor to guide them through their academic journey. You have two advisors: an academic advisor and a faculty advisor. You can find the names of your assigned advisors listed in your support network in Workday.

Academic Advisors

Academic advisors should be your first stop for assistance. Academic advisors are department Student Success Center team members who provide you with guidance on your major curriculum, course registration, academic progress, planning for summer studies, and changing a major. They are well versed in Stevens' policies and procedures, and can connect you with resources across campus as needed. You should meet with your academic advisor at least once each semester to ensure you are making satisfactory progress toward degree completion.

Faculty Advisors

Faculty advisors are your resource for more in-depth, subject area-specific questions and planning for long-term goals. Faculty advisors are the best resource to recommend concentrations or electives that best align with your interests and goals. You should also connect with your faculty advisor to discuss research and internship opportunities, or to get advice about your postgraduate career plans. You can find the name of your assigned faculty advisor listed in your support network in Workday.
