Professor Ying Wang Named Inaugural Richardson Fellowship Recipient

Dr. Ying Wang, an associate professor in Stevens’ School of Systems and Enterprises, has been selected to receive the inaugural Tom Ode Richardson Faculty Fellowship. The Tom Ode Richardson Faculty Fellowship, previously known as the Stevens Presidential Fellowship, recognizes a faculty member’s achievements in research and their potential for future contributions and impact.

Dr. Wang joined Stevens in 2021. Her research interests focus on cybersecurity and wireless communications, and health-related artificial intelligence. Dr. Wang has received research support from DARPA, the Department of Defense and the Defense Logistics Agency, Air Force, and is the co-holder of multiple U.S. patents. She serves as chair of the Graduate Curriculum Committee for SSE and as an affiliated faculty member at the Stevens Institute for Artificial Intelligence (SIAI).

“I am honored to be named the recipient of the Tom Ode Richardson Faculty Fellowship. It's an exciting time to be at the intersection of AI, cybersecurity, healthcare, and wireless infrastructure. I am optimistic about the future of my research and its impact on the university, said Dr. Wang. “It is humbling to be connected to the Richardson family and its deep, longstanding ties to Stevens.”

The Richardson Fellowship is named for Thomas Ode Richardson, grandson of Randolph T. Ode. Randolph T. Ode graduated from Stevens in 1898 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Mr. Ode’s pride in Stevens inspired his grandson this year to establish an endowed fellowship fund in support of faculty.

“I’m proud to honor his legacy in this special way,” Richardson said. “STEM-educated men and women have such an important role in our country, and Stevens graduates will greatly contribute to our future. My support for my grandfather’s alma mater is a heartfelt tribute to him and will help empower Stevens faculty and students for generations to come.”

Richardson, who resides in Park City, Utah, is the retired founder of the T.O. Richardson Company (TOR), Inc., an investment advisory firm based in Farmington, Conn.
