Yuping Huang, a physics professor and founding director of Stevens’ Center for Quantum Science & Engineering, was honored alongside Lac Nguyen Ph.D. ’23 with an Edison Patent Award by the Research & Development Council of New Jersey in November 2023. The award recognizes their work on their patent, “Systems and Methods for Quantum-Secured Private-Preserving Computations.”
In addition to his Edison Patent Award, Yuping Huang also played an instrumental role in helping the university secure a new five-year, $15 million research contract funded by the U.S. Army. The project, led by Huang and facilitated within the Quantum Center at Stevens, aims to develop advanced quantum technologies and integrate them with modern AI methods for defense systems.
Senior research scientist and longtime Stevens professor Victor Lawrence was also recognized at the Edison Patent Award ceremony with the 2023 Science and Technology Medal, which honors a lifetime of achievements in digital signal processing and multimedia communication, including his 30- year tenure at Bell Laboratories.
